Galilee series
The Galilee label represents wines from one of the most unique and prestige wine growing regions in Israel. Through the last two decades, Recanati Winery planted, nurtured and developed many quality vineyards in the Galilee.
These were vines grown first and foremost with the objective to create diverse and harmonious wines, whilst reflecting the extraordinary and unique terroir.
Petite Sirah

Vineyard location: Galilee
Grape Varieties: Petite Sirah
Soil: Terra Rossa and basalt stony soil
Altitude: 250-700 meters above sea level
Vinification: Destemming, moderate temperature fermentation, free run only and then aging in French oak for 6 months
Tasting Notes: The wine has a typical Petite Sirah aroma of blueberries, plum, mediterranean herbs and spices
Petit Verdot

Vineyard location: Galilee
Grape Varieties: Petit Verdot
Soil: Heavy basaltic soil and worn tuff
Altitude: 1050 meters above sea level
Vinification: Destemming, moderate temperature fermentation, free run only and then aging in French oak for 8 months
Tasting Notes: The wine has a typical Petit Verdot aroma of black raspberry, plum and Mediterranean herbs, with a backdrop of French oak
Syrah

Grape variety: Syrah
Soil: Basalt stony soil and light clay
Altitude: 250-350 meters above sea level
Vinification: Moderate temperature fermentation, partly with stems, free run only and then aging in French oak for 6 months
Tasting Notes: The wine has a typical Syrah aroma of violets, lavender and black pepper, with hints of French oak in the background.
Merlot

Soil: basalt stony and light clay
Altitude: 150-500 meters above sea level
Vinification: Destemming, moderate temperature fermentation, free run only and aging in French oak for 6 months
Tasting Notes: The wine has a typical Merlot aroma of cherry, plum and Mediterranean herbs, backed by hints of French oak
Cabernet Sauvignon

Vineyard location: Galilee
Grape variety: Cabernet Sauvignon
Soil: Terra Rossa and basalt
Altitude: 250-780 meters above sea level
Vinification: Destemming, moderate temperature fermentation, free run only, and aging in French oak for 8 months
Tasting Notes: Aromas of black plum, cassis and Mediterranean herbs, with hints of French oak in the background
Sauvignon Blanc

Vineyard location: Upper Galilee (Kerem Ben Zimra Old Vines – 1992) and Golan Heights (Tel Fares vineyard)
Grape variety: Sauvignon Blanc
Soil: Terra Rossa and basalt
Altitude: 630-850 meters above sea level
Vinification: Delicate inert pressing, low temperature fermentation followed by aging in stainless-steel tanks on the lees (Sur Lie), in order to preserve its freshness and enrich the texture
Tasting Notes: The wine exhibits white grapefruit aroma, a fresh herbaceous character and wild flowers
Chardonnay

Grape variety: Chardonnay
Soil: basalt stony soil
Altitude: 600-850 meters above sea level
Vinification: Delicate inert pressing, low temperature fermentation, combined aging in large French oak barrels and stainless-steel tanks on the lees (Sur Lie), in order to enrich the wine and yet preserve its freshness and fruit purity
Tasting Notes: The wine exhibits citrusy and stone fruits aroma, accompanied by a delicate savory saltiness
